I went to the doctor and the doctor said

I had my semi-annual checkup on Monday. All went well. My blood work was fine, all markers good if not a little higher than last time. But he said there was no cause for concern. I lost two pounds since my last visit in June. He wants me to cut back on "le bon vin de Touraine." The good wine of our region. So, if I take him literally, I can increase my intake of wine from Bordeaux, Burgundy, or Champagne, as long as I cut back on the local stuff. Yeah, right.

The sign tells me not to walk, so I didn't.

This photo is of the church and château in Saint-Aignan. My car is parked in this lot because I needed to stop at the blood lab to get my results before I headed to the doctor's office. They send him the results separately, but I had to go and get my copy and pay my fee. I had some time in between so I walked around town a little and took some pictures.

It's cold, not above 40ºF, and it's overcast and spitting rain. It is November, after all.

You're falling apart and not living right.

Good to read about your good health ( Is the bon vin de Touraine too rich? ) .
You will get the real freeze soon. Yesterday morning I had to scrape my windshield before heading out -so it's the time of the year.....

  5. I would find it hard living in France and not being able to enjoy the wine (local or otherwise). Glad you got a clean bill of health.

  6. I agree, I don't think that your doctor was very clear either. He indicated that you lost two pounds and then said to stop with the local wine? It sounds to me like a great diet plan.

  9. rick, thanks, me too.

leon, I don't know if my doctor's older than me or not...

cubby, please let me know when you do. ;)

beaver, no, the bon vin de Touraine is just right!

    bosguy, n'est-ce pas!

mark, he didn't say to stop, just to cut back a little. His tone was suggestive, not prescriptive. :)

starman, incroyable, non? How unpatriotic! At least we don't need a prescription for wine.

jim, thanks. We'll have wine when you get here!

  10. Hey Walt,

Glad to hear that all went well at the doc's. Cutting back on wine... Didn't know you drank a lot-- hmmmm! Maybe, it's the grapes, not the wine! haha!

Also, please let me in on your weight loss 'secret.' Even though it's just a kilo since June.. it's still better than ME, who tends to GAIN rather than LOSE... and with all the great meals you make/eat-- I'm still always genuinely surprised how you both manage to stay so fit! Even with walking the dog-- Let's say I'm very active, too..
SOOOOOOOOO, what's your secret- Do tell!!!
