More spring wildflowers

I think this plant is called une corydale, but I have no idea which variety it is (there are many), nor what it would be called in English. Wikipedia has an entry for corydalis which comes from the Greek meaning "crested lark." So maybe corydalis is it.

Une corydale, I think.

I found a few of these out in a small field at the end of the vineyard road. We often see wild orchids out there a little later in the season. I always worry about taking pictures like this because I can't see the screen on the camera unless I lie down in the wet grass, which I didn't do. So I take a few photos trying to point as best I can and hold the camera still at the same time. As I'm not the most physically coordinated person around, I think I got lucky this time.

  1. Your ID is correct. This looks like Common Fumitory Fumaria officinalis. They are part of the same family as Corydalis. As a group, in English they are refered to as Fumitories or sometimes Corydalis, in French les Corydales.

  2. I don't think I have ever seen or noticed a plant like this before but it's a lovely mix of shades of pink.

  3. Like Jean I'v never noticed this plant before. Although I knew of fumitories from herbals & writings; I didn't know that this was what a fumitory looked like. Antoinette

  7. Walt,
You are my inspiration for taking closeup flower pictures. I too have problems getting down in the wet grass (like this morning) to take a closeup. Sometimes I get leg cramps and other times I can't see exactly what I'm taking so I take a chance. Like your picture today, sometimes I get lucky. More often than not, I don't that's when I'm glad there is a delete button function on my camera.

    1. ron, yup, the point and hope method sometimes has good results! I'm planning on changing that, though. I'm looking at a new camera with a moveable screen so I'll be able to see what I'm doing. It won't cure the leg cramps... they're still working on that one!
