Amboise alley

There are a few nice views down between the buildings along the rue Nationale. This is one of them. I really worked on this picture (post-processing), trying to get it just right. You will be the judge.

Looking down an alley in Amboise.

So what do you think? I had a hard time dealing with the light and the shadows.

***UPDATE: Here's the original per Judy's request:

  1. Like it.
Perhaps 'burn in' a tad on the roof of the farthest building [around the alleyway light]... it looks a little too bright... and try a tighter crop to the first blue window to make the picture even taller and more door shaped... otherwise it is a very nice picture.
A blow up of it would look good on our ghastly [but necessary] fire door 'twixt the house and the barn. And brighten a dark passage. It draws the eye on and out.

  2. Love it, there is a similar alley in our local village but not nearly so colourful. Have a good weekend Diane

  3. Wonderful. How convenient that
someone has parked a bright blue
car on the street which matches
    the shutters in the foreground.

  4. I see what you mean. Great job. Tim has good points.

On the other hand, I have a problem with your blog. Whenever I’m looking at the comments a blank page pops up out of the blue. I have to use the back button to come back to your post and then that page may pop up again. Your blog is the only one that does that to me. Any idea?

Firefox won’t let me publish my comment on the old laptop. And neither does Safari

Now I’m Firefox on my brand new MacBook Pro and we’ll see what happens.

It seems the blank page is a Firefox thing on the old laptop. Doesn't happen on the new one because it's a newer version that I cannot get on the old laptop. Built in obsolescence!

  5. chm, I have a MacBook Pro (provided by my school), and I really like it. I hope you're enjoying yours.

Walt, will you show us what the original photo looked like? This one looks great, so I'd love to compare it to the original.

  8. Bonjour Cousin

May be the OS version on your old Mac is not up to date and the new version of Firewox can't work on it. It happened to me on my 2006 iMac and I ended up buying more RAM so that I can have the latest OS version and thus all the latest browsers.

  9. Ok... I just responded to all your comments, then hit the wrong button and they all disappeared. So, I'm not going to try to replicate it. Thanks all, just the same! :)
