Tall grass

Normally someone comes (the town, I think) to cut this patch of grass down before it gets this tall, but it hasn't happened yet. It's a patch of grass between two vineyard parcels and now it feels like a narrow corridor. This is what it looked like on Friday morning.

The grass is taller than the vines (on the left).

The nice weather continues, at least through today before it cools off a bit. We've seen some thunderstorms pass in the distance but haven't had any here. Yet.

  1. Walt, I have been mowing paths on the meadow...
and the nettles are over seven foot high...
Pauline was watching from the bridge and saw me vanish into one patch...
    and waited until I re-appeared...
took over six minutes to fight my way apparently...
    I wasn't timing...
too busy trying to avoid nettles in the face.
    Never seen them so high...
it is all the moisture still in the ground.

Around here, the mowers have been out on the main routes...
because of the height of the grass...
    similar to your picture...
they did all the signs, junctions and blind spots first...
and are only now following up with the verges...
your stretch would be a LOW priority for them at the moment. Our road is on a Fils Verts bus route... so was done ahead of others.

    Enjoy the fact that...
    for the moment...
you can take certain macro shots without crawling on the ground!!

  2. Too bad for JW yesterday - everyone was expecting a 30th anniversary ( abit similar to the Canadians for the Stanley Cup but they were sent packing after the first round )

  3. That grass is very high, but it looks intriguing. We've been having quite a lot of rain, in fact, it's pouring as I type this.
