I love a parade

I took this photo on July 14, France's national day that we Americans call Bastille Day. Saint-Aignan apparently has a little parade to commemorate the day, although neither Ken nor I knew about it. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time this year. But don't blink; it goes by fast.

Uh, what's going on here... other than the passing fire brigade?

The "parade" consisted of probably twenty people total. Some firemen, members of the local police, and a marching band. There were more spectators than marchers. Still, it was loud and fun and the fantastic weather added to our amazement at this "discovery."

  1. I think there are three people bending over some children, probably to make sure they see what's happening. But one of them is taking advantage of the situation!

  2. It's quite quaint and sweet, isn't it? I love how French firemen look - those shiny helmets!

  3. I too always grab onto the nearest butt when I bend down.

Is that a mosaic (on the building in the background) of two men kissing?

    1. mitch, that's a movie theater, so I assumed it's a movie poster. (Confirmed by Dean France below)

  4. Butt holding at a parade...it's a good thing.

  5. There is a lot of je ne sais quoin in this photo! The "kiss" poster is repeated below, it's an ad for something I suppose.

  6. The poster of the two men kissing is for the film, "L'Inconnu du lac" ("Stranger by the Lake"). It is a gay murder thriller written and directed by Alain Guiraudie.

  7. ugh, a DISNEY ad in the background.

  8. Even without the things written in French, one would immediately know one was not in the US!!!!

  9. Happy Left-Hander day!

Pour your heart out! I'm listening.
