Periodic puppy pics

A walk in the woods will do us good. I'm feeling rather stuffed after our wonderful holiday meal of figs and foie gras, turkey with stuffing, cranberry sauce, brussels sprouts, butternut squash, and a pineapple upside-down cake for dessert. Today we'll dive into the leftovers.

Heading into the woods with Callie on one of her favorite paths.

Now it's the week-long slide into the new year. We're planning oysters for New Year's Eve, then Ken's making a traditional bean dish for New Year's Day: a cassoulet with his own duck confit. Yum! There will probably be pictures.

Note: "What's on tv" is taking the holidays off!

  1. There's nothing more wonderful than a French autumn (fall to you) with the leaves in the colours of that time of year (although I guess you are close to mid winter now). I remember going for a run thru the streets of Paris in September 2006 (our first trip) and just kicking the leaves out of my way in the joy of being there.

    1. We Americans use the terms 'fall' and 'autumn' pretty much interchangeably.

    2. Nice image of the leaf-kicking jog, by the way.

  2. What an idyllic spot. Very envious. That cassoulet will doubtless be made with black-eyed peas.

    1. I'm going to skip the black-eyed peas this year and cook French white beans for the cassoulet. Wish us luck in 2016 despite the lack of faithfulness to Southern tradition.

  5. That would be my favourite path, too. Your feasts, as always, sound excellent.
