Light frost

This photo is from Friday morning, the last gasp of the winter weather that lasted almost a whole week. There was a little frost on the ground and on plants around the vineyards. Now we're well above freezing again and are contending with mud. It's interesting to listen to and read about the snow in the eastern US. Neither Ken's (coastal NC) nor my (upstate NY) home town was affected by the storm this time.

A withered rose in a neighbor's garden is touched by frost.

It's quite possible that we won't see another snowflake for the duration of winter. It's also possible that we will. It's impossible to tell. But the trend has been to warmer, drier winters since we moved here.

  2. Out here in California, we are very glad for the rain and snow. While the snow pack is more than usual, the reservoirs are still very depleted. This year will not undo the drought years behind us.

    Your pic is lovely.

  3. Ahh, how the folks in the mid-Atlantic states wish that they only had a nice touch of frost, like this :)

  4. It looks so sad yet I know it is merely asleep waiting for the spring.
