Pizza Sant'Antonio

Many of you who know me know that pizza is one of my favorite food groups. When looking for a place to eat, I will always default to a pizzeria. And one of my favorites since the early '90s is this one on the Place du Bourg-Tibourg (4th arrondissement) in Paris. I was on my own for dinner on Friday night and decided that a pizza from Sant'Antonio would hit the spot.

Sant'Antonio is the place with the orange awning. I sat in the far corner where you see the person walking.

I got a seat on the terrasse. It was covered and the heat lamps were on, so it was quite comfortable, and it had a great view of the activity on the place. I ordered my standard pizza Reine (ham, mushrooms, and cheese) and some red wine. The restaurant was bustling, but not crowded, when I got there around 5pm.

The view from a different angle. A lot of people park their motorcycles and bicycles along the street here.

The pizza and wine (the house chianti) were delicious and after a coffee I was ready to walk some more. I headed down toward the river to where the right bank expressway had been closed and made into a pedestrian zone. A perfect place for a walk!

  1. Yesterday, May 4, was even warmer and less windy I was heading over to the Gare du Nord area to see a friend from my son's at the Porte d'Orléan (Bus 38).
He and I had had lunch outside at a nice restaurant on Rue d'Alésia. We were fortunate that the people next to us were also non-smokers because, ever since smokers must be outside, the smoke density at the terrace chases non-smokers inside, which is a shame on a nice, sunny day.

  2. I readily recognise the mood you describe - idyllic. Those moments when it feels really good to be alive.

  4. Whoever is in charge of the planter boxes at the Bedford next door needs to find out what Sant'Antonio have planted in theirs.

  5. We discovered that too late on our trip this past summer — I hadn’t been to Paris in a number of years, so didn’t realize that the terrasse was now the land of the smokers. What a huge shame.

  6. A search on the web reveals that the address is not "Place du Bourg-Tibourg" (which Google Maps does not give, just the Rue) but "1 Rue de la Verriere," the street sign being visible in the second photography. We must investigate on our next trip to Paris, a desire made urgent by your photographs. Roderick

  8. ellen, I'd rather be outside when it's nice, so I try not to let the smokers bother me. What I thought was funny, though, was seeing so many people sucking on their e-cigarettes. It looks so silly!

raybeard, it was nice to visit some old familiar places.

    mitch, :)

sheila, really! Still, it's early. Maybe they'll get them planted during May.

judy, gotta roll with the punches!

roderick, I hope you enjoy it!

chris, I've never found that second place! Ken and I have looked for it in years past.

  9. Jean and I really enjoyed the pizza we had there with you. The giant carafe of wine we shared was really great, too!
