Yesterday's photo was taken in Montrésor, a small town just to the south of us. It's officially designated as un de plus beaux villages de France (one of France's most beautiful villages) and its situation in the valley of the Indrois River is part of the reason.
The old town in clustered around the base of an 11th century fortress, which was perched up on the bluff at this spot along the river. What remains today are some of the ramparts and the intact 16th century château built on the site.
Ken has blogged about Montrésor before - this is where our friend Laurie played a piano that the classical composer Chopin once played. His post includes several photos of the château both inside and out if you want to see more.
A lovely village. I tried to click the link to Ken's post but landed in a blogger page asking me to register.
ReplyDeleteClaude, sorry about that. I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteToo old now to go but so happy to travel with you. I'm speechless.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Thanks, claudia. I appreciate the comments. This is the only way I can respond since you don't have a blog of your own, so I hope you check back.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're enjoying the pictures!
Thank you for your response. At 78I'm very new at the internet. My son insisted I learned to use it. After a few lessons, he said "You're OK" I am not ready yet (maybe never!) for a blog but it's so pleasant to communicate with interesting people willing to share their thoughts, travels and discoveries. I simply have to say MERCI!
