The interior of this spectacular church has been restored in recent years. I say restored, but I'll wager that the interior was never this austere when the church was younger. The stone is brilliant white, and the light streaming through the windows is just as bright. It's an interesting effect.
I don't remember that there were many people there. It was September, so the summer crowds had thinned out a bit. Still, the weather was pretty good. I didn't have the same camera I have now. I was using one of Ken's, and I wasn't very experienced with digital photos.
Nonetheless, these came out ok. I think digital is much more forgiving than film photography. Then there's all the correction you can do on the computer to crop out stuff or fix a slanted picture.
I'd like to go back one day with my current camera and tripod. Any takers?
I just got a message from Twitter, and I quote: "Something is technically wrong. Thanks for noticing."
ReplyDeleteYeah, thank me. They say they're working on it. Ken says they're in the midst of massive layoffs. Related? Nah.
How about next June?
ReplyDeleteWalt & chm,
ReplyDeleteWe'll be there too ;-)! Martine
I wish I could volunteer :-)
ReplyDeleteYou realize, of course, that everyone who comes to visit you for the next two years will want to tour Fontevraud. I know I will next time we come (assuming that dollar/euro things improve).

Walt, the photos are wonderful! Artistic and providing a sense of the places you have visited. Keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteUh-oh... tour guide duty. Well, you all know my fee: Wine.
