Man, does it feel great to type that! Ken and I stayed up all night through the returns and the speeches. The emotions, wow. I had tears streaming down my face on several occasions, and Obama's speech was amazing.
Now it's time to bask in the glow for a bit.
I am in awe! Please pray for Obama and that we have 8 years of progress. In all my voting life, I have never been moved to tears as I am tonight. Sorry for those of you who supported the Republican ticket (not so much). What a great day for America!
ReplyDeleteWe in Australia share the joy.
ReplyDeleteAnother "Congrats" from Australia!
ReplyDeleteI've never been so relieved in my life. Hope. I feel hope.
ReplyDeleteAnd that feels so good.
Congratulations! It's sooooo wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHis speech was amazing! I too was moved to tears. This is the beginning of a new America.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations - I stayed up till 2 AM ( Montreal time) hoping to update the results for NC for Ken but we are still waiting for the official results
I was relieved when i saw Pennsylvania and later on ~ 9:15 PM that Ohio went Blue and knew it was in the bag.

ReplyDeletei burned those candles for like 15 hours yesterday.
A brand new day for the U.S.A. How sweet being "Bush-Free."
ReplyDeleteWe no longer have to tell our French (European) friends, "No, I didn't vote for him". What a proud day.
ReplyDeleteare you and Loulou and other expats going to move back to America now that you are so joyous??
ReplyDeleteWe were thrilled that Obama won and relieved that PA (Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with Alabama in between) went for Obama.
ReplyDeleteYesterday we were surprised to see an Obama lawn sign in front of a home we’d never have pegged as Obama supporters, and surprised they had the moxie to drive 25-30 miles to get a sign. Then my husband realized this was probably the sign he’d put up that had disappeared last week. We decided it had found a good home.
Anonymous, let us know when you decide to leave the country. Then we might consider moving back. The country isn't big enough for all of us. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks, again, to all for the good wishes. It feels nice to see so much optimism again.
ReplyDeleteAnd no, anonymous (whoever you are), we have no immediate plans to move back to the US. We didn't run away from America or Bush, or leave for any two-dimensional reasons. Our decision to move to France was much more complex than you may be able to understand. We're invested here and plan to stay as long as we're welcome. That doesn't stop us from feeling good about what can only be described as positive developments in the US. We are Americans; that will not change. And perhaps now our fellow countrymen can work to repair our damaged reputation, and do so with grace and humility. And not, I might add, anonymously.
So well stated, Walt :)

You can smell the vinegar in "anonymous'" comment. Maybe he or she missed the train...
ReplyDeleteWalt
ReplyDeleteI wonder if your anonymous is the same who left nasty remarks on my site. Most likely...
What a coward!
We didn't move to France because of Bush or because we didn't like living in America. And we do not plan on moving back now that there is going to be an intelligent, decent human being as President. But I'm sure it will be a much better place to live after January!
Do I ever hate anonymous comments of the snide variety...I've been oddly immune to them, but maybe I won't be after this comment!
ReplyDeleteI'm giving myself one week to bask. Then I think America and France both have some serious work to get down to. I guess being a dual citizen, I have twice as much...
