I promised I'd try to take a good picture of the peony when the flowers opened. Here's what I came up with:
It wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be, probably because I made the shot on a very overcast day and used the tripod. Shooting these successfully on a sunny day is nearly impossible -- at least for me.
Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI believe the peonies must be blooming this week at the MO Botanical Garden... gotta go see them this weekend!
Judy
What a lovely flower. I used to have a peony plant or two but they never produced as well as this one.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen on quite yet here...but it should be very very soon! Three flowers on my top favorite list: Peony's, lilac, iris.
ReplyDeleteSorry you missed the shocking twists at the end of The Guns of Navarone. David Niven's explosives are duds. Anthony Quinn slits Gregory Peck's throat. The formidable guns blow the troop ships right out of the water, and the Nazi's win the war. Sorry for the spoilers...
ReplyDelete'The Guns of Navarone' has always been one of my favourite books by Alistair Maclean. I think I have read 90% of 'oeuvre' when I was a teenager. Maybe they should do a remake of the movie with ... Richard Gere (only kidding - no one can beat Gregory Peck and David Niven as Mallory and Miller :))
ReplyDeleteThe story plots were always breathtaking and I often finished reading a whole book in less than 24 hours. Those were the days! Martine
judy, yes, you should! ;)
ReplyDeleteurspo, and I do nothing to them other than cut them back in the fall.
lewis, lilacs are faves of mine, too.
john, nice try!
martine, I should read the book...
