The seeds I planted in the garden last week are sprouting! These are (or will be) zucchini plants. I have two hills of about six or eight seeds each. They'll get thinned back to one or two plants per hill. That should give us enough zucchini to feed the neighborhood.
The pattypan squash is also sprouting, as are the swiss chard and the radish plants. The run of hot weather we're expecting later this week will do them all a world of good. It's fun to watch things grow.
Beautiful close up

ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you, too!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I have to ask...what the heck is swiss chard?
ReplyDeleteI recognize the zukes!
ReplyDeleteUsually I end up with more zukes than I could ever eat; so I limit to one or two plants at most.
on the other hand, one can never had too many toms!
Thanks, everybody!
ReplyDeletestarman, swiss chard is a leafy green, kind of like spinach. Also called silverbeet. It's very tasty and easy to grow, and the stems are quite edible in addition to the leaves.
michael, I agree.
