You've seen both of these before, just not in the same shot. I took this from up on the terrace of the Palais de Chaillot just opposite the Eiffel Tower. In the background is the dome of the Panthéon, in the foreground is the gilded dome of the Invalides church.
On the left you can see one of the bell towers of the St. Sulpice church, and on the right is one of the four modern towers of the François Mitterand Library.
Magnificent !!
ReplyDeleteI hope your neck feels a bit better when the chiropractor has finished crunching it ...ouch!!
Good domes, good domes indeed :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck at the neck-fixing place.
I love the way the sun glistens on that golden dome!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I thought chiropractors were illegal in France?
I hope you find a solution to your neck problem today. It has nothing to do with rubbernecking in Paris, I hope.
ReplyDeleteHave never seen this view before and like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteHealing thoughts for your neck!
I wonder how many realize le Panthéon was the influence for the US capitol building?
ReplyDeletelovely
ReplyDeletejean, it felt a little better for a little while. I have a long way to go.
ReplyDeletejudy, thanks!
scottsabode, I'm being a little loose with my terminology. He's a kinesiotherapist, so technically not a chiropractor. But it's all about bones, muscles, and nerves.
carolyn, me too! It has mostly to do with my age and trimming the hedges, I think.
evelyn, merci!
starman, one of many influences, indeed. The design for the current capitol dome (added in the mid 1800s) was based more on the Invalides dome.
michael, :)
On a clear day you can see forever. I saw Forever. Thanks again for sharing Walt.
