Ya think? I certainly wouldn't park here. All these signs look pretty new. I wonder if there's been a parking problem on this street (it's still the rue de Babylone).
From top to bottom, the signs say "Caution: pedestrian crossing," "Reminder," "No parking," and "Tow-away zone." And did you notice those spikes under the pedestrian sign? I guess they're there to keep people from shinnying up the pole. Yeah, I was thinking about doing that...
My guess is the spikes were part of the pole before the signs were put on, in order to prevent anyone from climbing over that wall. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteWow! what a friendly lamp-post! ;-)
ReplyDeleteMethinks the parking problem was on the crossing.... here in GP it seems to be the vacant spot opposite the chemists that everyone uses as a 'convenient' spot to park!
ReplyDeleteWV is "prorros" which sounds like something the chemist has an ointment [or worse] for....
The pedestrian crossing sign looks more like Tom Hanks playing that huge floor keyboard in the movie "Big".
ReplyDeleteBonjour Cousin
ReplyDeleteThat's what i was thinking and was about to mention it to Walt and then I saw your post :-)
Are you back in N.A?
Bonjour Cousine,
ReplyDeleteI'm in Northern Virginia right now, but I'll be in SoCal next week. Looking forward to sunny and warm days ahead. Best to both of you.
It never fails to make me wonder why anyone would want to own a car in Paris.
ReplyDeleteI love the post and I love the comments. I agree that the spikes are there to keep "you" from climbing over the wall. There must be some interesting stories behind all those signs (or just some bureaucrats knee-jerk reaction)!
ReplyDeletechm, sounds plausible!
ReplyDeleten&a, right?
tim, could be...
cubby, that's funny - it's exactly what I thought when I saw it.
t.b., :)
starman, plenty of people do. Parking is a serious issue. And expensive.
mitch, thanks. You may be right. The prime minister's offices are nearby, I think the grounds are on the other side of that wall.
I'm amused that there is a separate notice for 'reminder' or 'recall'. You'd think each of the notices is a reminder in their own right.
ReplyDeleteThis profusion of signage seems to be a feature of all the large cities nowadays.
