Leaf peeping

Fall colors do not seem to be an attraction here in France as they are in the USA. That's not for lack of fall colors, though. Another thing that's not a big deal here is "pumpkin spice." Thank goodness.

Our leaf "peak" usually happens around the first of November.

That reminds me. I want to make a pumpkin pie soon. I have some pumpkin-like squash in the freezer from last year. And I have all the spices I need in the pantry for a good-ole American style pumpkin pie.

  1. Ohhhhh, I love pumpkin pie! I can do without most of the other pumpkin flavored things... they're usually too sweet, and over done. I do like a nice pumpkin bread, if it's not too sweet, though :)
Walt, what do you use instead of condensed milk (I assume you don't get it there?)... do you use cream, or whole milk?

  2. I'm with Judy about loving pumpkin pie. Sweet potato pie seems more popular in the deep south, but I prefer the taste of pumpkin which is not as sweet.

  3. Long ago, and friend and I decided to check out the pumpkin spice thing at Starbucks. We split one, and haven't been tempted since (as Judy says, sweeeeeet!). Pumpkin pie is still a favorite. -- Chrissoup

  4. I do love pumpkin pie. Can’t remember the last time I had any. I must admit, too, that I loved Starbuck’s pumpkin spice cookies. I could live very well without the latte.
