It was more impressive in reality than in this photo taken with my phone. The sky was cloudless, but there was some fog. The moon was minutes from setting when Tasha and I went outside on Tuesday morning. I realized what was going on and took a couple of quick snapshots with the phone.
The garden shed at moon set (and sunrise at my back). That ivy is scheduled to be removed this winter.
We're enjoying a warm spell. The mornings are quite chilly, but the days are dry and pleasant. Having said that, I did put a fire in the wood stove yesterday morning and kept it burning until early evening. It felt nice.
Look up moon illusion. Usually the moon looks small when directly vertical and enormous when it's on the horizon. It's an optical illusion. The 2d camera flattens it all and the moon looks the same anywhere
ReplyDeleteA mystical photo. We’ve had all the windows open in recent days, and closed later in the day when temps hit 30-ish (C of course).
ReplyDeleteThat's a new door on the shed, right?
ReplyDeleteWe are suddenly dipping in temperatures... 48° F when I got up this morning, at 7! It'll get up to low 70s, and this weekend, up to 80-ish, but fall temps are here!
Nice moment.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot in the mist. Here in the Central Okanagan, our temperatures range from 7ºC - 19ºC (45ºF-67ºF) similar to what you’re experiencing these days. However, you don’t drop to the icy temperatures we get in winter. We have to change from summer tires to winter tires here between Oct 1 and Apr 30. It’s the law and it’s a pain in the neck. C.
ReplyDeleteWe also had an impressive view of the moon. -- Chrissoup
ReplyDeleteHow nice to see full moon photos in all the blogs and FB entries. We are still enamored of the moon.
ReplyDeletedavid, thanks!
ReplyDeletemitch, we shiver in the morning.
judy, that depends on how you define "new." We got it in 2003. ;)
evelyn, :)
c., I grew up where there was real winter, ice and snow. And snow tire requirements.
chrissoup, cool!
michael, she's a harsh mistress. ;)
