That's just nutty

This is the walnut tree that grows out among the grape vines behind our house. The nuts it produces each year are small and not very good. Certainly not worth the work of shelling them. That said, I used to see one of our neighbors out there gathering them from time to time. He must have had a good use for them, but I never spoke to him about it.

The walnut tree at sunrise.

Today's another three-minute day for increasing daylight. The forecast predicts dropping temperatures as the week goes on. Ugh.

  1. I wonder if anything can be done to get the tree to produce better nuts. I’d be out there feeding it if I could. I love walnuts. Beautiful sky. Too bad about the cold. We have drear.

  3. We are having crazy warm weather, despite it having been close to 0°F two weeks ago.... it's going to hit 67°F today! Then, some days with hihgs in the 50s, then another few days in the low to upper 60s... what!? Bring it on, sun and better temperatures. We'll probably get another blizzard before winter says goodbye, though.
