The spring vineyard

We're half-way through spring and the vineyards are in fine form. So far, no frosts or hail storms to worry about. It has been cold, though, especially when the wind blows.

Overcast sky and bright green grape vines.

And it's wet. While there's no frost, there is dew. This morning my jeans were soaked well above the ankle. A little bit of water make it through my waterproof hiking boots. Cold water.

As an Oregonian, unfortunately, wet pants around the ankles can be the normal during the rains. Not fun. But with a dog, expected.

As a side note: last night while reading David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell I came upon this: "Le Chambon is one of a dozen villages on the Vivarais Plateau, a mountainous region not far from the Italian and Swiss borders in south-central France. (... then this:) ...with farms tucked away in and around piney woods. !!! Before reading those last two words, I had only "heard" rather "read" about piney woods from you, Walt!!! Is that a truely "real" term - piney woods?

  3. It looks beautiful. But the cold! Our forecast for next week is high 30s Celsius. An early taste of summer.
