In English, it's a hot-air balloon. Early on Thursday morning we heard the familiar whoosh! of a hot-air balloon's burner. It was near by. We rushed to the windows to get a view. There it was out over the vineyards behind our house. Balloons were a common sight around here before the pandemic. Then they became a rarity. We enjoyed watching this balloon pass through our neighborhood. Little did we know that we were in for a treat...
A hot-air balloon graces our view to the west. But wait... what's next?
Our days are warming up as predicted by the weather folks. It should be increasingly warm through the weekend. Yay! One of our neighbors was already out there in the early evening mowing. I'm planning to get the mower out today.

A wonderful sighting and photo!
ReplyDeleteThat beautiful hedge looks great in this photo. Treat?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun thing to see, and then the several more that came by after this one!
ReplyDeleteLucky you! What a nice surprise. Here's hoping for more beautiful warm days. - Chrissoup
ReplyDeletemitch, it's fun to watch them, especially when there are multiple balloons.
ReplyDeleteevelyn, the hedge came out well this time. Maybe because it was trimmed in spring rather than fall or winter.
judy, it was a pleasant surprise!
chris, it's going from chilly to hot. I hope we're up to it!
Once when I was in high school as the family was eating dinner we heard a completely unknown sound. It sounded like a fire-breathing dragon from a movie. And it kept getting louder. In short order we all ran outside to see what was going on. It was a hot air balloon doing a semi-controlled crash into our front yard. How it missed the trees is a mystery. Anyway we were all standing there wondering what, if anything, we could do for the 3 guys in the basket. Then they all shouted out my older sister’s name. Turns out the were all in several of the same classes at the local university. No one was hurt and their tracking truck found them quickly. What an experience for all of us. I just wish we’d gotten outside earlier. The balloon was mostly deflated when they landed and I couldn’t see the decorations.
