I'm not sure I would try to walk to the top of the lighthouse today. Maybe with several rest stops along the way I could do it. But I don't have to worry about that now. It's been done.
Le phare de Chassiron, Ile d'Oléron, May 2008.
We're below zero this morning. In degrees Celsius, that means below freezing. The puddles might be frozen over when we head our for our morning walk.
We hit 0C overnight. That’s enough of that! But back up to 15C during the day (it’s already 9). That climb reminds me of climbing the Statue of Liberty. I wouldn’t do THAT again. But, it’s been done. I did in the ’70s on a 93F day before it was renovated. No cooling. It was 106 in the stairwell by the time I reached as far as was permitted. Young and stupid.
ReplyDeleteQuite the phare! I've never seen one in France, in person.
ReplyDeleteGood looking lighthouse. Reminds me of one in NC or FL?

I’ve climbed the Pilgrim’s Tower in P-town twice. It’s quite an effort. I may try one more time before I get too old to manage it. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteCorrection: the Pilgrim’s Monument. (252 feet - 116 steps)
