There are a few blues, a lot of whites, no reds. This year's crop seems to be mostly purple and white.
Primroses pop up in our back yard, mostly in the north forty, every spring.
Yesterday brought cloudy skies, rain showers, and some wind. The house felt chilly so I built a fire in the wood stove to keep us warm through the day. We also at a yummy gratin of endives wrapped in ham slices with a cheesy béchamel. I guess that would be more properly called a mornay sauce.
Our house in San Francisco had a small flower bed by the front door. The builders planted primroses there. I do love them. Yours are especially lush and rich.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could grow primroses where I live in New England as perennials the way you do. I also wish endives were actually affordable here! I love that dish. But I sometimes do the same kind of gratin with chard stems or cauliflower. Cheese sauce and ham are great on almost everything! Good luck with the rain and chilly weather.
ReplyDeleteI love this photo!
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely to see the flowers!
ReplyDeleteI have made a version of your ham/veggie/mornay sauce... I think I used asparagus or broccoli... or, maybe you've also shown us a gratin with ham wrapped around asparagus? I remember that I didn't use quite the vegetable that you used. It was yummy, in any case!
Thank you for the awesome pix of the most beautiful display of primroses I’ve ever seen. Love the colours.
