The weather is crappy right now

But it's not bad. I mean, the temperature is above freezing and there is no snow, sleet, or ice. There is always a bright side. But it's not particularly warm, which is normal for February. And we're having a succession of weather systems bringing clouds and drizzle and rain. The vineyard is a muddy mess. Can't do much outdoor work.

A line of trees between vineyard parcels.

On the other hand, we know that spring is close. The days are brighter, longer. We're not having to build a fire every day. Buds are fattening and bulbs are up. Life ain't half bad. In fact, it's pretty good. So we enjoy our days, our meals, our walks, and our internet. Hot water, electricity, and satellite tv.

Except for rhythm, who could ask for anything more?

  1. A simple, but perfect life...

  2. Same here. The days are grey and dismal but getting longer. The fields are sludge on top of hard earth, making walking difficult - unless you are a poodle and just flit across the slippery bits. All dog walks require paw washing afterwards, yet another chore to add to the drudgery of winter.

We had a sprinkling of snow yesterday. It didn't stay for long but it made driving to work awkward. We're not out of winter yet, here in Derbyshire.

  3. Crappy, yes, an interesting word that describes a multitude of things. Is it universal?
Is there an translation in French?
Spring, then summer will come soon.
And we will read about it...

  4. This mirrors my post today in many ways. I had pushed off my usual February blues until this morning...

  5. Yes, because you've got your man!

  6. So what does it hurt to just ask?

(But with satellite TV, what else could anyone want? You want maybe whirled peas?)

  7. It sounds good to me :) I'm so looking forward to spring.

  8. On Al Jazeera, they showed the wind coming from the Atlantic.

  9. Are slugs just snails without their shells?

  10. You are aware that that photo is great, right? My walls, here in the family room, are a earthier blue than the background on your site. That photo would look so cool against the blue.
    Your Friend, m.

  11. john-san, simple, maybe. Perfect? Hmmmm.

    jean, paw-washing! Yup.

leon, un temps pourri, I think, comes closest.

betty, hopefully things will be getting better, weather-wise.

will, oh, you musical guy, you!

bill, whirled peas would be nice.

    judy, me too!

starman, yes, relatively warm and wet. And I think snails and slugs are very closely related.

mark, thanks. I thought it was neat.

  12. It's rainy and chilly here now but I almost prefer that to immobile grey gloom.

    Take care!

Pour your heart out! I'm listening.
