Spring Will Come

The signs of renewal are beginning to show themselves. Winter is temporary, although far from over. This week, some of our daffodils dared to poke through winter's detritus.

We also have hyacinths and tulips making their way up through the ground. We could certainly see more freezing weather and/or snow in the months ahead. But we can already perceive the lengthening of days, and the buds and sprouts fill us with anticipation.

I pruned the rose bushes this week. There is still a lot to do in the garden, but there is no reason to hurry yet.

  1. Isn't this a bit early in the season? It might still freeze, I guess.

  2. Our daffodils look like yours.

We planted some tulip bulbs on Saturday. That's late, but they should be OK. I love tulips in the Spring.

I need to prune the rose bushes also. I usually do that in February, but our winter has been very mild so I think I'll do it early this year.

  3. Claude, yes, it still might freeze. But I looked at photos from the past couple years and the daffs were up in January. So, I'm thinking it's normal.

Evelyn, I think the bulbs will be ok. I've even planted them in spring, and they come up, but they're better the following year. We're having a mild winter, too.
