Looking up at the castle's roof. Once inside, you can climb the stairs and walk around up there. And so we did.
I took this photo from inside the courtyard looking at the southern façade of the building, the back side if you're looking at the banner photo. Visitors enter in the center and this is the view they get before going into the castle itself. Not bad!
such wonderful architecture! built to last, too...not like the mcmansions builders throw up in 10 days today.
ReplyDeleteI adore the previous. Shadow photo.
ReplyDeleteStunning
It must be quite costly to keep all that intricate architectural detail clean....maybe they have to raise funds to complete the other side.
ReplyDeleteThe difference is startling.
Glad you did the climb and the walk around :)
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to say this- "I'd hate to pay their heating bill" lol.
ReplyDeleteIt seems in France, there is always cleaning to be done. This is a gorgeous building!

Well, if it were my chateau, it wouldn't get cleaned all that often.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Philadelphia's City Hall. In my entire lifetime it's been under renovation. I've never seen it without scafolding.
