Le désert

This photo reminds me of California deserts. It's right here outside our garden gate. Not a desert at all, but part of a stone wall where a small plant has taken hold.

Taken with the nifty fifty lens. 50mm, f/8.0, 1/160s, ISO 100.

It's a little weird to learn of the death of Prince, or the artist formerly known as Prince, now the late artist formerly known as Prince. I was not a big fan, but I liked some of his stuff. And he was my age, another reminder of what awaits us all not too far down the road.

  1. I'm with you re Prince. Did he dabble with the drugs? I'm sure I don't know - he may very well have been just 'unlucky' with his genes.

  2. Resembles both a desert and an undersea view. Very nice shot in any case. To show how little I know about Prince, I just learned that was his real name.

  3. That plant is the grass Red Fescue [Festuca rubra]...
a plant that only really shows its true colour when it is highly stressed.
    And that one is wonderful!!

  4. Well, we don't know how far the road goes do we? Just wondering what lies around the bend keeps things interesting.

stuart, thanks. I didn't think of undersea, but now that you mention it...

    tim, cool.

    evelyn, so true.

    chris, me too.

andrew, I suppose that a lot of people in show business live hard and/or wild. It must take its toll.
