A Doorstep In Loches

This little series of photos from Loches was taken during a summer walk around the town. I'm still sifting through some older photos and trying to give them new life. For one reason or another, I rejected these pictures the first time through.

Impatiens adorn this windowsill in Loches.

Now, since we're in the middle of winter, I'm finding time to work on them a bit and bring them to the blog for the first time. I hope you're enjoying them.

I'm always amazed at the little details in the buildings and streets and walkways in these old towns. The places are almost always lived in, but sometimes you wouldn't know it. Curtains are drawn, shutters are closed. But the signs of life are everywhere, from freshly painted doors to meticulously maintained flower pots on window sills.

  1. Ahhhh - so lovely to see flowers on windowsills.
We have potentially only 5 or 6 weeks of awful weather then, all things being equal..........SPRING will be on its way !

  2. Funny, I just saw PRIMROSE in stock and for sale at the store the other day. It's that time of year here... late winter when the primrose, pansies, and purple kale all get planted.

  4. aaaah.... That looks so so so pretty :) I love the mix of textures, with the great wood, the glass, the curtains, the brick of the cobblestone road, the iron work, and the flower plants. Lovely!

  6. jean, I can't wait!

alewis, you're lucky. Our primroses will bloom in a few weeks, I hope.

    carolyn, glad you like 'em!

judy, that's what attracted me to take the picture, but the result didn't please me. What you see is only about 1/3 of the original photo, and I've straightened it out because it was crooked.

    starman, where, where??

    mark, thanks!
