I don't know what caused the ice to form this way on only part of the puddle.
The temperatures have warmed up again and we're expecting around 9ºC (high 40s F) today, so there's no more ice. We had an uneventful but successful shopping trip to Tours on Thursday after dropping the Peugeot off for some pre-inspection work. We stopped at Ikea for a quick in-and-out (which is not easy to do) for just a couple of things we wanted, then stopped at the Asian grocery in North Tours and bought a cart-full of Asian ingredients for our pantry.
I am in awe with the marvels of nature. Superb photo. Glad you were there at the right time.
ReplyDeleteThat ice formation is very impressively geometric. Great photo!
ReplyDeleteI hope you did not illegally divert from the Ikea path!
ReplyDeleteNeat! The ice almost looks like a crumpled sheet of gelatine.
ReplyDeletemother nature is a great painter/sculptor!
ReplyDelete"We stopped at Ikea for a quick in-and-out" - they allow that in the open? bwhahahahaha! :-b
ikeas must be the same everywhere; I visited the one near me and never went back. DID buy some of their stuff online though! :)
what asian delights did you purchase?
What a great photo....if you did not state that it was a mud puddle with ice, I would have never guessed. Next time you should make us guess, we'd probably never get it right.
ReplyDeleteTruly amazing pattern in the ice! I have never seen anything like it before or maybe never paid attention!

ReplyDeleteMay be there was a print of something ( boots or tires) in the soil or ground and when the water of the puddle froze, the ice took the form of that mould
Hello Walt,
ReplyDeleteVery unusual ice! We had dinner in Tours Saturday evening at a friends new place - 'a whistle stop tour', as we were worried how naughty our Pug was going to be - lol! Have a good weekend.
Ivan :)
That's the most interesting ice patch I've ever seen. At first glance, I thought it was a picture of an airport. I hope your friend recovers quickly.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought of the ice pattern was the roof of a very modern building. Shows what I know??? Not much.
ReplyDeleteI was surprized to see that you have picked up the English way of speaking (not using "the" when you spoke of in hospital). That particular difference to English has recently just crossed my awareness level probably through books and movies).
Great photo. Looks like Superman's Ice Castle...the Fortress of Solitude.
