Hotel de France, Varennes-sur-Fouzon. All closed up on a Sunday morning.
The Tour de France started on Saturday. I watched some of it while alternating with the women's tennis final in Wimbledon. It wasn't a very exciting match and it was pretty one-sided. And the bicycle race was (and will be today and Monday) in England. Pretty pictures. On Tuesday they get to France.
The hotel looks sad oday.
ReplyDeleteThe bike race went through a lot of places we know well. I think a lot of French people watching were quite surprised by the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. They were expecting Leeds to be more like its twin town, Lille. I don't know where all the spectators came from, but they were really keen! P.
ReplyDeleteI love it that the Tour has expanded to include other countries. I was routing for France in the soccer match.
ReplyDeleteSo, is the name of this place "Hotel de France", or "Meteor"? Or is Meteor the name of the bar/restaurant, only?
ReplyDeletejudy, Météor is a brand of beer. :)
DeleteI actually found espn live streaming on my computer and I was able to watch the men's finals Wimbledon - by now you probably know the winner, too. Nail biter of a game.
ReplyDeleteI got up too late to see Le Tour live streaming but I will try it tomorrow. Hoping that M. Cavendish is better today after his fall yesterday (one of my favorites!).
Mary in OR
how in hell can they call it "tour de france" when the tour starts in the UK and goes thru belgium?
ReplyDeleteanne marie, it's mostly in France, but in the spirit of Europe they do a stage or two at the beginning in a neighboring country. Brings out the fans and gets more people interested. I just like the aerial photography. ;)
DeleteSports Bar? hohoho it looks nothing like the monstrosities around these parts, which resemble the6th level of the Kingdom of Noise.
