The heat is on

The weather people got it right: this week has been a hot one. Well, hot for us. Even so, we've been using the oven to make pizzas and calzone. On Thursday I made some ice cream with the raspberries we picked back in June. I had frozen half of them; raspberries freeze incredibly well. The recipe was easy because it didn't require making a custard. The result was delicious.

Fluffy seeds.

Not much else going on right now. We're taking it easy, resting after what was (for us) a hectic social calendar over the past month or so. The Tour de France will be finishing up this weekend with the traditional final ride into Paris on Sunday, so I'll be watching that on television.

  1. That's a nice shot of the seeds. Looks like we're off to a cooler start today. And I'll be with you in the Tour de France "crowd".

Wish I could be there on the sidelines in Paris! Some day, I hope to visit while the race is on.

    1. sally, I used 400ml of liquid cream plus 100ml of skim milk, I macerated 400g of berries in about 3/4cup of sugar, then blended it all together and poured it into a motorized ice cream machine for about 20 min, then into a container and into the freezer.

  3. Hi, Walt. Do you yourself have a bike there? I've been looking at some of the biking itineraries in your area, including "La Loire à Vélo", an 800 km véloroute.

    1. dean, yes, we both have bikes. But I won't tell you how long it's been since we actually rode them. They both need a "révision" and probably new tubes.
