One day a couple of weeks ago I noticed on my blogger dashboard that I was getting perilously close to the one thousand mark. And today I will have put pictures and words on this site one thousand times since I started in 2005. I said to myself, self, you should do something special for that. So I prepared this very brief video to thank all of you who visit
wcs: another american in france.
Now you see why I never had a career in television.
Thanks again!
Walt (the "w" in
wcs).

CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU! (screaming intended)
ReplyDeleteI have only recently stumbled across your blog and Ken's and I'm addicted. I've started to go through all the archives in order and enjoy every second of it. For those of us who love France but haven't yet summoned up the courage to do what you've done, you're an inspiration (I hope the "yet" is correct).

ReplyDeleteWalt,
ReplyDeleteKen's friend from Urbana days here. Let me add my congratulations to all the others above. You do a fabulous job of reminding all of us stateside of what we're missing. It is a treat to read you blogs.
I can think of a few people I want to try on that ring.
ReplyDeleteBTW, after my lunch out of the car board box dinner last week, we had pulled pork. That was good.
Chef! gardner! ... and actor too!
ReplyDeleteWalt, you are a breath of fresh air. I am so glad I found your blog (and others too); everyday when I wake up, it is a treat to read what is going in your part of the world. You are talented on so many levels, keep on writing, cooking and entertaining us.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Here's to the next 1,00 posts and more charming videos. I do adore your dry sense of humor. And a reward, you get Ken home in a few days.

Yay! Here's a toast to another 1000 posts.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide if you look more like Bilbo or Frodo?
(Nice Bear t-shirt by the way ;) )
I agree with you, CHM. Be sure and come back for many more 1000s of posts, Walt! This post was really really fun for us all.
ReplyDeleteI think Ken will really enjoy being back home for his 60th and the birthday dinner you will be fixing for him.

Félicitations! My only regret is that I didn't find you sooner!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great comments! And welcome to those of you I haven't seen before! So cool.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to respond to each of your comments individually, but I've got some housework to do before Ken gets home.
A couple things: This wasn't a farewell post or anything like that. I'll be back at it real soon.
And about the bear t-shirt. It comes from my Alma Mater, the Univ. of California at Berkeley. The sports teams there are called the California Golden Bears. Go Bears!
I'll let Ken tackle the phonetic spelling of our village, since that sort of thing falls within his profession.
Thanks again!
That was a pretty neat trick. Congrats on the 1000 mark.
ReplyDeletephonetic spelling of saint aignan is: sɛ̃ ɛ̃ɲã syr ʃɛr
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1,000! Also, please return my "precious" ring.
ReplyDeleteStinko!
ReplyDeleteI go away from blogland for a few days, and I miss the big day!
Congratulations to 1K, may there be many many more.
I enjoyed hearing/seeing you. You are clever...
Congratulations on 1000 high-quality posts on a blog that keeps us checking daily.
ReplyDeleteWow! I was totaly not expecting that ending! Too funny!
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on 1000!
Wow--$29.95 for that many Viagra looks like a bargain compared to what my discount prescription service charges!
ReplyDeleteBut I digress--happy 1000th! And Happy Birthday to Ken--you and he have a lovely birthday celebration.
You had me at "29". Congrats! You are a Blog Star!! I think I am going to coin that phrase right now. It's like a Rock Star (which until this post I thought was one word, thanks spell check.) but even better. It goes without saying; you are VERY cool, we love you and I want to buy a WCS t-shirt/koozie/hat.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the smiles and sunshine you have brought to my very cloudy town in Nord-Pas de Calais. You know we have only 1600 hours of sunlight a year here? I just found that out on the internet. :-( I'm off to have a blond beer. The color of the sun from what I remember...
That was hilarious, thanks for giving me my good laugh for the day :)
ReplyDeleteWell done (for 1,000 posts and for the video).
ReplyDeleteCongrats! You absolutely have great presence. Want more videos! (Maybe puppy vids too?)
