Although I've done both, the second type is the one I made on Monday. I followed a recipe that I saw someone make on Cuisine TV. I used my standard pâte brisée (pie crust) instead of the sweet crust that the tv guy did. But I used his recipe for the filling.
The result was a luscious lemony pie. It has a good deal of butter in it, so it's not for the faint of heart. But it is for us gourmands.
*****
Here's the recipe:
Blind-bake your favorite pie crust recipe, or use a prepared crust. Cook it completely, not half-way.
Mix in a bowl:
- the grated zest of two lemons
- the juice of two lemons
- 120 g granulated sugar
- 3 whole eggs
- 170 g butter, cut into pieces.
That's all there is to it!
More baking success! Looks so creamy and good :)
ReplyDeleteMan, those symptoms sound terrible-- you baked, feeling like that? Maybe you got bitten by something -- some kind of venomous spider or something? Glad you're feeling better.
Judy
Mmmm.... my favorite, I can almost taste it!
ReplyDeleteAre you OK? Judy's post makes me wonder.

My guess (I'm not a doc, but married to one) is the flu. I'm glad you are feeling better this morning.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great looking tart!
oh my yum! i love lemon tarts. i made a greek recipe once that used about a bazillion lemons, including zest in the crust that was amazing. sadly, i lost the recipe. someday i'll have to try to recreate it.
ReplyDeleteCome on then, recipe, please!
ReplyDeleteToo much work in the yard. That's why.
ReplyDeleteI remember your "tarte au citron" way back last century, when you lived in San Francisco. I'd like to sample the new variety, with the "tarte aux poires," of course, and "tarte amandine" after some chicken tarragon. That will be all for today, thank you. Make a reservation!
Looks yummy. I vote for the recipe also! Is a cooking novice capable of making that?
ReplyDeleteLooks great, one of my favourites! :-) Looks so lemony!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, more yellow (except now it's in the kitchen, not outside). You are the crust master, Walt. How gorgeous. I love that you showed all the dishes you had to clean, too. Nothing that gorgeous comes without its price.
ReplyDeleteYum, your tarte looks beautiful....Barb
ReplyDeleteDitto all the above, it looks delicious.
ReplyDeletejudy, no, I made this on Monday. Didn't get sick until Wednesday.
ReplyDeletebettyann, dealing with mysterious flu-like symptoms. But it's not really the flu.
evelyn, I'm not sure it is because I've had the flu and it has always been much worse. Could be a different strain, of course.
tansy, that sounds intense!
autolycus, ok, I will add it to the post.
chm, you order has been noted!
mark, it's not really complicated. Give it a try!
anne, it was very lemony!
ginny, it's a yellow time of year!
barb, thanks!
victor, it was delicious. Now I'll have to make another because it's all gone!
I think Tarte au Citron is my all time favorite dessert. Especially if it is a tart tarte.
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the dishes!
I just told Loulou today that Tarte au Citron is my favorite dessert too. Maybe she'll make me one when I come to see her, tee-hee!
ReplyDeleteIf Tom is reading these comments, I want a lemon tart just like this. Instead of merange, how about some nice whipped cream.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration, Walt. Keep it coming.
Harriett
Oh my. I need to find me lemon tart. Like now!
