Wall and window

I think, based on the order these photos are in, that this is one of the walls of the medieval château at Loches. But I wouldn't bet my life on it. I think it's an interesting composition nonetheless.

A castle wall at Loches, May 2006.

We've been having a little trouble recently with Tasha's, um, "bathroom" habits. She's been having a hard time "going" and, when she does, well, the result is wet and runny and not at all normal for her. Sorry.

It occurred to me the other day that it may be her food. Duh. A couple of weeks ago, we changed her wet food to a different brand after getting a coupon for it. It's the same format as her regular pouch food, but made by another (well-known) brand. So we switched her back to the old brand. This morning she had no trouble going and the result was a nice healthy-looking poop. Having animals is so much fun!

  1. Oh, blech. But glad Tasha is doing better and that it was so simple. We've had that same lesson with previous cats and a different brand of food that appeared to be exactly the same. The photo IS a very interesting composition... wherever it may be.

  2. We have become way more knowledgeable and aware of our dogs bowel habits than we ever wanted. They’re like household appliances. When they’re working, we don’t give it a second thought, but when they stop...the household plummets into crises mode.

  4. Hugo had similar trouble last year and it turned out to be caused by drinking puddle water. The mild winter resulted in the flourishing of certain organisms in stagnant water which gave him the trots. It took a long time to get rid of it.
Apart from knowing what day of the week it is, the other only important thing in everyday life is to know the state of the dog's bowels. C'est la vie!

  5. I have learned the hard way that if you change Fido's food, you have to do it gradually, working the new stuff in over several days or a week. They have a much shorter digestive system than people do, so stuff goes, um, through fairly quickly. Glad Tasha's feeling better.

  6. mitch, it's always an adventure.

    sean, no kidding!

    bettyann, :)

michael, she didn't seem to be in any serious discomfort, but one never knows.

jean, Tasha sips from puddles. I never thought about the microbes and that they'd be bad for dogs.

emm, I know that. I conveniently forgot it.
