Narcissi

One of our neighbors has a nice little flower bed in her garden near the road. Right now, these daffodils are blooming. They're a multiple-head variety that, from what I can find on the internet, are called "bride." I think they're quite striking and I'm tempted to look for some next fall. If I can remember.

Bride daffodils (I think) in a neighbor's garden.

We've been keeping Bert closed up indoors for two nights now, closing off the access to the garage for the other neighborhood cats that are coming inside. Bert doesn't seem bothered. He's not even using the litter that we put out, preferring to wait until he can go out in the morning. So, that's good.

  1. Love them, they smell nice too. Well, sometimes. And not all, I guess.

Thought I'd see you around, man... Guess that's a sure no, now. Oh well.

  2. Certainly in Australia to protect native fauna and probably in France too, I firmly believe cats should be kept inside overnight. Some local areas here have bylaws forbidding cats to be out at night.

  3. Now that's a kind cat, holding it until he can go outside. Seeing your daffodil photos makes me think maybe we should plant some in pots on the terrace next year. So uplifting.

  5. Maybe Bert didn't like all those other cats visiting "his" place anyway!

  6. Ha! I remember my husband saying this about the two dogs who were alone in his brother's house, while his (now late) brother was in the hospital... my husband would go over there every morning (an hour drive away) and let them out, but was amazed that they barely even showed any interest in going outside! I said, "Can't be! I sure can't hold it for 24 hours, how could they??".... sure enough, one day, my husband ventured upstairs and discovered the world of pee and poop that the dogs had created for themselves up there... so, look around LOL. (No, I'm sure you already did, it just reminded me of our situation... absolutely disgusting and revolting mess.)

Those daffodils are fabulous! Our previous owners planted about 3 or 4 different types here, so we get to enjoy them. Our Botanical Garden has a whole section with probably a dozen or more varieties -- love them!

  8. hot guys, you got me confused! Around where? Your blog?

andrew, I've heard that (from another Australian, actually). Bert does take mice and voles, both at night and during the day.

mitch, isn't that nice of him? And paperwhites are nice for indoor blooming.

chm, I think he likes being indoors. :)

sillygirl, I don't think so. We did have a brawl or two.

judy, that's strange about the dogs. They must have been stressed over the absence of their master and their upset routine.

    michael, thank you!

  9. I thought I commented yesterday about Bert. I am pleased for you that he didn't seem to mind having the night inside.
Bride is new to me in the daffodil family! Very nice blooms!
