Mono tractors are so last century.
It's a German machine. Had it been French, I might understand the "stereo" thing. English words and phrases have a lot of cachet (see what I did there?) in French marketing these days. I often hear French products being touted as benefiting from "la French Touch." Oh, là là.
"a stereophonic tractor"....
ReplyDeletetwin exhausts perhaps?....
or only two wheel drive [but that is unlikely on a machine like that, surely]?...
it can do two jobs at the same time [but this time it was undecided and broke down]?...
perhaps it has a good hi-fi unit in the cab?.......
Oh, great. My South-Dakota husbands father's lessons in tractors have finally come in handy. I think that may refer to "stereo steering," which means it's really maneuverable. I am SO impressed with myself right now... although I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh my! Mitchell! You are our smarty! :) See, it pays to pick the right man.
DeleteJudy: Finally, some justification!
DeleteI looked it up. John Deere, for ëxample, makes those loaders with "stereo steering.
DeleteWell, Mitchell's answer is certainly interesting! Who knew?
ReplyDeleteThere was a little old man who lived next door to the village preschool who drove an antique Lamborghini tractor. It was a tiny thing, to fit between the rows of vines, and he was tiny too, bent completely in half. I would see him pruning vines all winter, bent over, but never thinking to retire. Sadly he died a couple of months ago. I haven't seen the tractor since.
The new Lamborghini tractors are tiny, too... Every time I go to the agricultural suppliers I drool over the new ones there...
DeleteWe have a very narrow bridge into the meadow....one of those would get across, no problemo...the problem is that I will have to win the EuroMillions lottery to be able to afford one.
At the ploughing competitions locally, there is a guy who turns up with his 1930s Porsche tractor...
Needs a respray, but what a bumper sticker that would make...."My other tractor is a Porsche!!"
Thanks for that info, Mitchell! I'm looking forward to more posts about tractor stuff.
