The donkey on the left kept a keen eye on Callie as we walked around the pen.
I hear the donkey(s) all the time. Their barn or shelter is across a stream on the other side of the woods, but the grazing meadow is on our side. Callie is afraid of the beasts, and rightly so because they can deliver a mean kick to a curious dog, and she steers pretty clear. Smart dog!
I like the new format and clicked on the photo to enlarge it; it did but not by much. I love donkeys. Aren't they silly looking?
ReplyDeleteI like the new format too. Do your neighbors keep donkeys for a reason other than their cuteness?
ReplyDeleteThe larger photo size is terrific, Walt. When I clicked it the photo filled up my entire screen. Zowza!
ReplyDeleteWhat do donkeys do?
ReplyDeleteThe photos are saved at 1200 pixels wide and they display in the new column at 900 pixels, so there isn't a lot of difference.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why people keep donkeys around here, but there are many. And I don't know what they do except eat and bray.
Forget Le ZooParc de Beauval! 6 miles from your house (in Angé) there is a donkey farm that welcomes guests to learn about their many, many donkeys. I'm sure you've seen the farm in passing. The owners, Olivier and Cécile, sell 13 different hand-made soaps made from their donkeys' milk. In addition to their open houses, they are participating in the "La France de Ferme en Ferme" event April 27-28,2013. If you go, they'll even show you how to milk a donkey! Sounds like a fun "field" trip to me!

Well, another place to put on my list of to-dos when I return to the Loire! I had never heard of donkey milk! Nor a donkey farm, though I'm sure there must be some here in the States.
ReplyDeleteBettyAnn, I wonder if one of the reasons people keep donkeys is for the manure they produce. Good for the vegetable garden. Otherwise I don't know...
