An old favorite

It's been a while since I made leek and bacon pizza, but it's one of my favorite pizzas. Sunday was the day. I sliced two leeks and sauteed them in olive oil. Then I cooked some lardons fumés (smoked bacon). Finally, we had a little bit of corn left over in the refrigerator, so I sauteed that, too. That's not a typical ingredient for pizza, but it was a very tasty addition.

Pizza with smokey bacon, sauteed leeks, and some leftover sweet corn.

I made my standard pizza dough the night before. It's the eighteen hour, no-knead dough from Jim Lahey's pizza recipe book. We sprinkled a little grated parmesan cheese on the hot pizza just before serving it.

  1. That looks very tasty indeedy!!
But in the UK...sweet corn is a standard ingredient of pizzas....up North, that is....

  2. What, no tomatoe or creme frais? The other ingredients are making my mouth water.

  3. You do deliver to Amboise, don't you?

  4. Corn on pizza! That's Jerry's idea of heaven!

  5. No tomatoes or cheese? Now I have to rethink the whole idea of pizza. Looks delish.

  6. tim, I don't think I've ever had it on pizza before.

potty, nope! Many pizzas without tomato sauce are delicious!

stuart, ha! If only I had one of those insulated pizza bags...

judy, yup! Corny, eh? Really, it was good.

mitch, how much corn do they grow in the Dakotas?

emm, anything on a crust! Except pineapple (but I would probably eat it anyway).

Pour your heart out! I'm listening.
