More zucchini

They're still growing, those most ubiquitous of summer squash. I don't know what we'll do with them all, but we'll do something. This is probably the last gasp of the zukes. I planted only three plants and that was probably two too many. I will never learn.

A bumble bee is working inside the blossom.

Still, these are some of the easiest plants to grow in the garden and it's satisfying to harvest them. As long as I find them before they grow into baseball bat sized squash. Grated zucchini is good for fall favorites like zucchini bread and fritters, so I'm happy to have it.

  1. Nowadays, I'm always grateful to see the bees at work.

  2. I wish I lived next door to you - for several reasons! First is to live in France and second I can't grow zucchini for love nor money. Where are all the people that have it to spare I want to know!

  3. Have you ever tried zucchini noodles? You know, just strips of zucchini used raw as noodles, with whatever sauce?

  4. I must be the only person in the world not able to grow zucchini. Every time I've tried I have only had male flowers. At least they're good for frying.

  5. Funny picture on the book of face earlier: Hunter posed with his shotgun and a stack of trophies. Except instead of dead animals, the trophies were huge zucchinis. "Opening day of zucchini season".

  6. So many things to do with zucchini! We love grated, cooked down summer squash with sour cream and dill - a Hungarian favorite.

  7. Sillygirl and ice chip in nc, I am with you! Zucchini and eggplant are the holy grail for me. At least this year the powers that be gave me tomatoes, albeit nothing like what Walt and Ken have!
