But the fire is so delightful

We're having a snow episode. I'm sure that's the technical term for it. It's been snowing for nearly two days now, but the accumulation is paltry. And that's probably a good thing. It's not really cold nor is it windy. During the day the temperature hangs just above freezing; at night it settles just below. No extremes here.

Ken's steps after returning from Callie's morning walk on Monday.

The snow we do have is of the sticky, let's-make-a-snowman variety (we didn't). I had it in mind to drive over to the castle in the banner photo above (about twenty minutes from here) and take its picture in the snow, but the air is thick with fog and flurries and I wouldn't have a clear shot.

We're hoping that this is the last gasp for old man winter. Temperatures are predicted to rise slowly but steadily over the next week.

  1. This photo would do well in a guessing competition.
Can you guess what is happening here? Make us guess next time, I bet you'll get all kinds of incredible scenarios.

  2. I was checking weather last night, and I checked yours-- at about 4:00 a.m. your time, it said, "freezing fog" and 19°F. Yuck.

We got a nice glazing of rain over our snow last night, so we've got really crunchy surfaces.

  3. The only blizzard we've had since being in Alabama happened on March 13th 1993. Winter is not over til it's over...but why not be optimistic? Just make sure you've got some wood stacked up just in case, and I know you do and so do we.

  4. We woke up with a thick fog outside this morning and we are expecting between 10-15 cms of the good soggy and heavy white stuff over the next 48 hours

  5. After what seemed to be a second non-winter in a row here in Boston, February made up for the mild weather and no snow that defined January. I'm hopeful that March proves to be more mild. I'm ready for spring.
