Tasha Tuesday

Tasha helped me out in the yard and garden the other day. Here she is watching birds, just before they take off and she chases them. Or maybe it was a car going by. Ever vigilant.

It's time for a bath and a trim.

After a soggy spring, we're now in a summer-like cycle. Dry days, warm afternoons. It feels like summer up in the loft at night. We're sleeping with the windows open and a fan on. Outside, the soil (such as it is) in the vegetable garden is drying out. A little rain would be nice. I could set up the sprinkler, but I don't think that's a good idea while we're in a drought. And we still are.

  1. Oh,aren't collies just the best and most loveable breed. Always alert and lively.
We've had to water the veg garden every few days to keep the young plants growing, no rain here either.
But the field crops are are not under stress just yet thank goodness. Could do with a day out by the sea soon. Our late Heather (border collie) loved it. Stay safe and well! Pats.

  5. You probably read the same thing, Walt: I read that the best way for figs to ripen is to give them plenty of water. They need it to keep the fruit ripening. I read as your previous blogger noted, that figs do not ripen off the tree if picked early. Hoping you do not have any regulations against watering, yet. Nice to have Tasha there with you to guard you while you work!

  6. Beautiful dog! Is it an illusion or is she really short legged?

  7. pats, looks like we're in for a dry June...

mitch, yes. We're not under any restrictions in our area yet. They're asking us to be prudent. But watering a vegetable garden has always been permitted. People gotta eat!

judy, yay for the last day of school!

    anon, it feels nice!

mary, I haven't read that, thanks! No restrictions yet.

chm, shetlands are short, that's for sure. Callie (a border collie) had much longer legs.
