Gauloises Blondes. "Smoking seriously harms your health and the health of those around you."
The weirdest (and by far the most gross) thing I've seen is a pile of human feces and the tissues used to "wipe" sitting right smack in the middle of the dirt road that Callie and I walk on every day. I imagine somebody really had to go and pulled off the paved road in the night. I had to steer the dog clear of that for a while in case she got any ideas. After a few days without any rain to wash it away, I noticed that somebody had actually come by and cleaned it up, presumably one of the vineyard workers. Ah, the country life!
The grossness of most Americans is something I'm used to dealing with, but I'm really surprised that someone would do that in France.
ReplyDeleteFrench toilet habits never cease to amaze me. Some of their public loos are little more than a hole in the ground.
ReplyDeleteUsually with a flush that is powerful enough to pressure wash your shoes and ankles!!
DeleteThat's why I never brush my shoes ! It is true that it is often MCdonald's fast food package on the roads. In fact the " hole in the ground" is called " toilettes à la Turc" they are a good exercice if you like "gymnastique" but they are more hygienic no ?
ReplyDeleteso french cigarette packs come with warnings also; interesting.
ReplyDeletehumans, no matter where they are from, are pigs. the pigs are outraged.
I am glad you only photographed the ciggie box
ReplyDeleteThe interesting thing is that there is so little trash on French roadsides that it is remarkable. We are knee deep in the stuff in Derbyshire. I have seen worse than your little "pile" regularly when walking with Lulu.
ReplyDeleteThat person probably ate too much fast food......
ReplyDeleteWe had the same thing happen here in our woods when a new road was being built behind us, just once though. That's why we have porta potties nowadays.
ReplyDeleteThe last video of this article will tell you about how life is in India. Japan has come a long way...

Well Walt, we have our fair share of trash along our roadways (much to my chagrin) but I have yet to see a "pile of human feces." Maybe that's a "French thing." Good to know we're not total pigs over here. :)

Eww... Mitch has always picked up trash when he walks the dog, for years now. He gathers recyclable cans, when possible, but most of it is just trash. He's got to pick up dog poop, but he's never had to contend with human poop. Wonder what he'd do? LOL
ReplyDeleteThe fact is most Americans would never think of walking anywhere and will usually make it home to pinch a loaf. Why walk to and from MacDonald's when you can burn fossil fuel?
ReplyDeleteBreath taking!
