Passerelle de la Liberté

During our walk along the river in Auxerre, we crossed this bridge to get a better view of the sights. That's Ken waving at me from above, and next to him is our friend, Sue. We only stayed in Auxerre one night. It was a good stopping off point on our trip down to Provence, not too far to drive after our eleven hour flight from San Francisco to Paris.

When you don't like the color in a slide, make it black & white! Auxerre, September 2001.

We're below zero this morning, as predicted. After the rain we had on Wednesday, wet spots will more than likely be frozen. Neither one of us has to go anywhere and we have plenty of provisions for a few days. One of us might head out to the bakery for some bread today or tomorrow. We'll see.

  1. We've been having rain, hallelujah. But I really need a walk in the sun. Great photo. I've got a number of those old photos that had discolored so much I simply couldn't adjust them. Black and white was the perfect solution -- like this time.

  2. We've got a virtual learning day (modern version of snow days... independent short assignments posted online, turned in online).... you'll laugh... we only have an inch of snow :) But... you know... it's about 10°F, too... and they don't get the streets cleaned well enough, quickly enough.

  3. I always loved the day in France even though I was pretty tired.

  4. Nice memory of doing the same, driving from CGD, and heading south to Auxerre, and then to Provence. A lovely lunch, the table cloth swept buy a knife like half curved utensil. And after the grilled lamb, coffee was made at table in a double bubble. How French.

    1. william - I am a little (actually a lot!) confused about coffee made in a double bubble?

    2. Two glass orbs, one on top of the other, ground coffee in the top, water in the bottom, set over a burner, when the water boils, it migrates to the top bubble, a quick stir, and continue to brew for 4 minutes, then turn off heat, and your coffee returns to the bottom bubble through a filter. The top bubble is removed, and you now have your coffee in the bottom orb to serve. Made quite an entertaining service at table. Bodum has one, https://www.bodum.com/us/en/11744-01us-01pc-epebo

judy, I'm glad we didn't have the internet when I was in school. Snow days were gifts without guilt!
