Ducati

Seen in Rocamadour, April 2006. This motorcycle was parked on the street and I was attracted to the pattern of circles on the instrument panel. I read that Ducati is owned by Lamborghini, which is owned by Audi, which is owned by Volkswagen. I'll bet you didn't know that Volkswagen made motorcycles.

Even though it was not running and sitting still, the speedometer is clocking in around 11 kph.

I originally posted this image back in 2006, but it was small and not very well processed. I've gotten a little better at post-processing over the years.

  1. I expect the failed speedometer tells us why not too many Ducatis are sold, well not here at least.

  2. That instrument panel would sure be a distraction, but what a great piece of art. As for the speedometer, maybe it was traveling in another dimension. Could it have been a TARDIS?

  3. Great piece of trivia, my cousin has a Ducati, he had no idea that he was riding a VW. He has probably pegged the speedometer a few times.

  4. Sometimes I think that everything in the world is owned by one company which is owned by one person.

  5. That's way too many dials for me! I used to hanker after a Ducati Monster in yellow. Nowadays I prefer something a little more comfortable!

  6. andrew, I just noticed that the dial has a needle stop at 11 kph. I have no idea why.

    mitch, only the Doctor knows!

    travel, what is pegging?

bettyann, as Lucy Van Pelt once said, "...Christmas is a big commercial racket. It's run by a big eastern syndicate, you know."

jean, there's a lot of information on those dials!

  7. Curiously I only hear WV made motorcycles a few days ago so when you mentioned it it came right to mind.
