I'm in serious need of some new photos. This one, from 2013, is a view of the bridge over the Cher in the nearby town of Montrichard. The curious thing about Montrichard is that the "t" is pronounced. Normally, the "t" in the French word mont is silent. There are several competing explanations for the pronunciation, but no one is certain which, if any, is correct. You can always spot out-of-towners when they drop the "t."
The town is out of the photo to the right. Montrichard, July 2013.
Things are going well so far on this the second day after my implant procedure. I go in this afternoon to have the temporary crown installed.
I am a little curious about the cost to you for this dental treatment. Not in dollar terms but how dental treatment works for you in France. In Australia you would be looking at a four figure sum without dental insurance and even that won't cover much.
ReplyDeleteEither of you may have shown the photo of the bridge before, but it is a very fine bridge over a very tranquil river. It is perhaps a viaduct?
ReplyDeleteI knew about the T in Montrichard and did wonder what the rules were. Thanks for the info and the gorgeous photo.
ReplyDeleteThat photo would make a fine poster. Glad all is going well with your extraction.

So, you didn't have any bone implanted first,eh? My two (and two others that I know of), do that first... remove original tooth and put in some bone matter to grow.... go back in a few months, once that bone has grown into your own bone matter, and get the titanium implant screwed in... wait another few months for the bone to harden around it... then get fitted for a crown, then get the crown.
ReplyDeleteandrew, four figures here, too, but on the low end. I'm expecting to get about 10% back from the NHS and our supplemental insurance. As for the bridge, it's probably technically considered a viaduct, but bridge works just fine for me.
ReplyDeletemitch, you're welcome!
evelyn, thanks! The temp crown went it easily yesterday.
judy, the dentist said I had enough bone that he could do the extraction and the titanium implant at the same time (does that mean I have a big mouth?). Now it's the 3 month wait for the bone to fuse around it, then I can get the permanent crown. In the meantime, I have a temporary crown on the implant.
People get awfully queer about how words ought to be pronounced. I think there is a passage in the Bible someone was using a word to discriminate the good guys from the bad guys how they were pronouncing a certain word. Thems who said it wrong were executed.
ReplyDeletemichael, I hope the punishment is less severe these days!
